Compare lists in Microsoft® Excel® with the Compare Lists Assistant
The Compare Lists Assistant addin for Microsoft Excel will quickly and easily align and compare two lists or worksheets.  It will identify new and deleted rows and any cells whose values have changed.  Or you can use the Compare Lists Assistant to compare two lists and have it color or copy the rows which are in both lists (or the rows which are not) to a new worksheet.

Key Features

The report below is the result of comparing two lists on separate worksheets in Microsoft Excel.  Green rows are new rows in the new list.  Red rows are rows that have been deleted in the on the older list. Gold cells are cells whose values or entries have changed.  Comments are added by the Compare Lists Assistant to show the value of the cell in the old list. Comments are optional.

To learn how to use the Compare Lists Assistant, just click on the the "How to use" button.  This will open a help and exercise file with step by step instructions.  The following video illustrates the exercise of aligning and comparing two worksheets:

If you choose the main dialog option to find entries in one list that are in a second, the following dialog appears:

                                      

This gives you the option to color, copy, delete or put a marking cell entry in a column of your choice if matches are found. 

If you select the option on main dialog to find rows in a list that are not in another list, then the same options are presented and allow you to color, copy, or delete the rows in the first list that are not in the second list.
