Help & Manual is a professional help authoring and documentation tool that functions as a WYSIWYG XML editor for producing interactive help files for Microsoft Windows applications in the standard Microsoft formats of Winhelp (HLP files)and HTML Help (CHM files). It is possible also to produce websites for access on the internet, Adobe PDF files, printed manuals and a number of other formats. Help & Manual can generate Microsoft Visual Studio source code documentation by importing projects from Microsoft Sandcastle. It is available in the following Editions:

• Help & Manual Standard Edition Per-seat Licence: for part-time authors and private users
• Help & Manual Professional Edition Per-seat Licence: for professional authors and software developers
• Help & Manual Professional Edition Concurrent User Licence: for corporate use with groups of more than ten authors.

• Single Sourcing: publish multiple formats from the same project at any time
• XML-based: project files are pure XML. The Standard Edition is saved in a compressed format with all project files packed into a single file. The Professional Edition can be saved as a directory of a plain-text XML file
• Team Authoring: multiple authors can work on the same project in the Professional Edition
  Conditional Output: generate different versions from the same project
  Re-use Content: create libraries of re-usable topics and texts and insert them in projects in Link or Copy mode. In Link mode, the texts update everywhere where they are used when the original files are changed. It is possible to re-use topics directly from other projects in the Professional Edition
• Generate Microsoft Windows Help Formats: output projects to all standard Microsoft Windows help formats; output is 100% standard-compliant. Generate Webhelp, PDF and Word RTF. Generate fully-formatted printed manuals directly from the same projects used for all other formats. The Webhelp output includes a full menu structure that emulates the appearance and functionality of HTML Help and includes full-text search with highlighting for found words. PDF output and printed manuals are fully customisable with the bundled Print Manual Designer program: include a table of contents and a keyword index, automatic page referrers for links and cross-references, customised page layouts, headers, footers, page numbering, covers and introductions
• Localisation: create documentation in up to one hundred and six languages with full support for Unicode. The Professional Edition saves projects in uncompressed XML format that can be translated directly using external editors
• Migration: import HTML and text files, compiled HTML Help, Word files (RTF format) and Winhelp source files and decompile HLP files. A dedicated import tool is provided for RoboHelp X5 projects.
