MAPublisher Label Pro

MAPublisher LabelPro offers advanced labelling capabilities beyond those available in the standard MAPublisher Feature Text Label and the MAP Tagger Tool, including a sophisticated and user-friendly rule-based and collision-free placement engine.

The MAPublisher LabelPro engine contains sophisticated algorithms that solve many of the most common map labelling problems such as complex conflict resolution across multiple layers, the ability to specify data as obstacles and the ability to create complex labelling conventions using user defined rules.

MAPublisher LabelPro uses map attributes, rules and styles for labelling which provides a great level of sophistication and control. Map layers may be assigned an order of priority for labelling and set as label obstacles. Labels can be placed on any defined text layers, unplaceable layers can be ignored or placed. Placement rules and styles can be saved to a file and imported or shared over a network.

Line Specific Rules

• Label Lines using symbols (Highway shields)
• Specify where the label starting point will be (Start, Center, End)
• Choose to place the label on the centerline or offset it above, below, or vertically split
• Label the feature as a joined object or label each segment individually
• Label divided highways with only one symbol
• Choose to spread the spacing amount between two words in the same label
• Repeat label instances using a specified distance
• Specify a percentage to allow the overhang of a label off of an object

Point Specific Rules

• Choose the label position by ranking up to 8 positions around the point or choose to center the label on the point

Area Specific Rules

• Label using horizontal angle inside the polygon
• Label using the dominant angle inside the polygon
• Extend label beyond the polygon boundary
• Label outside the polygon
• Label inside the polygon, along the boundary

Rules for all feature types

• Choose to allow words to be stacked a specified number of lines
• Determine whether to allow labels to cross lines
• Allow a font reduction that will incrementally reduce the font size by 0.5 pt to fit in the necessary space
• Set the use of leader lines on or off, how many lines they can cross, the leader width, and the arrow style
• Choose to allow overlapping labels
