Oxford Reading Tree

Oxford Reading Tree For Clicker is an exciting series of curriculum materials based on the popular Oxford Reading Tree reading scheme. Crick Software and Oxford University Press have worked together to produce five CDs, each containing on-screen Oxford Reading Tree stories and associated Clicker activities. The on-screen stories are narrated by Tony Robinson, with each word highlighted as it is spoken. Each CD contains six stories from one of five Oxford Reading Tree stages - Stage 1+; Stage 2; Stage 3; Stage 4; and Stage 5. Each of the stories is accompanied by a wide range of reading and writing activities based on the story and its key words. The activities take full advantage of the new features of Clicker 5, with pop-up grids enabling new kinds of really engaging activities. Children can create their own versions of the books, recording their own narration. If your children are using Oxford Reading Tree, then this series is a must. The on-screen talking books and Clicker activities are perfect for working with individual children, or for whole-class teaching with an interactive whiteboard. The materials are designed for all abilities, so you will find them highly motivating for all your children, including those who are struggling with reading and writing.

Each story is supported by activities at word, sentence and text levels, based on carefully researched literacy objectives. The activities themselves vary between stories, so that children are stimulated by a variety of tasks, and progression is built in across the stages. Words - word-level activities using words from the story. Many of these activities are phonic-based, plus there are tasks based around spelling and verb tense. Sentences - a variety of sentence-level activities help children to use and understand the grammar of sentences. Activities include building sentences with whole words and filling in missing words. Word Practice - these activities give practice in whole-word recognition to develop sight vocabulary. Comprehension - picture-based and word-based activities appropriate to the level of the story, to aid and enable children to demonstrate understanding of the text. Writing - Clicker Grids support children in creating their own piece of writing based on the theme of the story. Make a Book - using pop-up grids, children create their own version of the book, adding their own interpretations if they wish. They can even record their own voices on each page!
